From vision to reality with Egypt’s Ministry of Education
Dr Taher Abdelhamid AlAdly at the Ministry of Education’s launch event
“It was truly inspiring to work with Code School Finland while developing our AI Curriculum. At times, the process was challenging and our perspectives differed as often happens when people from different cultures collaborate. But through open dialogue and mutual respect, we found common ground and created something truly meaningful for Egyptian education.”
— Dr. Taher Abdelhamid AlAdly, Head of IT Department, Ministry of Education
Ambitious education reform
This Autumn, Egypt has taken a significant step in modernising its education system. The new national curriculum, launched as part of the Education 2.0 reform, focuses on skills development and critical thinking from kindergarten to high school.
We were especially happy to see the new high school AI and coding curriculum, which was the main focus of our workshop held in Cairo together with the UNESCO International Bureau of Education. Seeing the ideas and frameworks we co-created now implemented on a national level is rewarding for everyone involved. The principles discussed during our workshop, such as learning for understanding, inclusiveness, and real-life problem-solving, were clearly included in the final curriculum design. The result demonstrates how shared commitment and collaboration can lead to lasting educational change.
Learning for understanding
Our goal is to make education more inclusive and relevant to real life. Instead of memorising information, students will now learn how to apply their knowledge to solve real-world problems.
The new curricula published by the Ministry of Education are globally oriented, simple, and easy to understand. This approach supports both students and teachers by reducing unnecessary complexity and focusing on learning for understanding.
The Finnish approach to AI education
Effective AI education is not about teaching technology alone. It is about nurturing curiosity, problem-solving skills, and ethical awareness. These are the same principles we bring to our work with schools and ministries across the world.
Across the Gulf region, many countries are now setting ambitious goals to prepare their young people for the age of artificial intelligence. The Finnish approach, based on equality, trust, and lifelong learning, aligns naturally with these visions.
By combining strong pedagogy with practical AI understanding, we help educators create learning environments where students can become creative and responsible users of technology.

Our capacity building workshops offer a collaborative design of localized, modern, competency-based curricula and teacher training that lead to sustainable impact. The key themes in our workshops are inclusion, human-centric AI, creation culture, and digital resilience. These principles help ensure that technology serves people, not the other way around.
