Finnish education model expands in Panama

September 28, 2022, Code School Finland

ONLINE PRESS RELEASE

SEP 28th, 2022

Panama City, Panama
Helsinki, Finland

Panama-based Knowledge Group and Code School Finland have entered a strategic partnership to prepare Panamanian teachers with tools and skills for digital skills education in K-9 schools.

Two international schools in Panama City participated in pilot programs where Code School Finland trainers conducted the teacher upskilling remotely online. The teachers found the curriculum and teaching materials easy to use and useful, while the students showed progress in their coding skills and an increase in positive attitudes towards coding.

Teachers commented that the teacher and student materials are well structured with very enjoyable and fun lessons that kept the students engaged. They encourage creativity and student analysis.

Students expressed that it was an amazing experience. They had a lot of fun solving the challenges, playing, and programming.

International schools are welcomed to 2023-24 program

The official launch event Lanzamiento Code School Finland, organised in September 2022, gathered international school teachers and principals together to discuss the implementation of the Code School Finland program in Panamanian schools.

“Knowledge Group has partnered with Code School Finland to provide a technology curriculum based on Finnish educational principles. With leading results in international evaluations such as Pisa, Finland promotes the development of 21st Century Skills,” commented Monica Fabrega, COO of Knowledge Group.

Ilka Barahona, Academic Director at Knowledge Group remarked that “With CSF,  students work on projects that can be applied to real life, are evaluated based on their progress and encouraged to cooperate with their classmates. Teachers receive professional development that can be applied to all subject areas to enhance learning.“

The program is launched at schools for the school year 2023-2024 and more international schools are welcomed to join.

Knowledge Group has worked in Panama for over 20 years developing education, providing teacher professional development and supporting schools with international educational programs and solutions.

Code School Finland grows creative problem-solvers with a K-12 digital skills curriculum and teacher capability development services. Based on Finnish educational expertise, the program has been contextualised in ten countries around the world.
