Saaga Travel and Code School Finland launch new joint products: Coding and robotics camps for international youth and teacher groups in Oulu, Northern Finland
Saaga Travel and Code School Finland are joining forces to offer coding and robotics camps for international youth and teacher groups in Oulu.
“The target group of the youth coding camp is over 15-year-olds who want to learn future skills and experience the Finnish education system together with Finnish students“, says Kaisu Pallaskallio, CEO of Code School Finland.
During the camp, students will design and implement an innovative robotics project in teams. They will learn about automation, embedded systems and product development. Students will design and implement hands-on projects that will be combined into an ‘Escape Room’ game and best ones will be awarded.
The camp is implemented together with Finnish co-students. Co-students will help to create social relations and develop friendships. The Future Skills Camp was awarded in 2019 as the best Finnish camp school product for children and young people in the educational travel product competition organized by Visit Finland.
Saaga Travel and Code School Finland are also offering a unique professional development camp for teachers interested in incorporating coding and robotics in their school programs. Many countries have included computational thinking and coding in their national curricula in recent years.
“We help ordinary teachers to become experts of teaching coding. This camp is a hands-on introduction of a pedagogical model how to teach coding and robotics in a cross-subject, project-based way“, Kaisu Pallaskallio explains.
Code School Finland is responsible for the educational content of the packages. Saaga Travel acts as a tour operator responsible for group accommodation, meals, transportation, and leisure program.
Marketing of the packages is done jointly by utilizing the existing international networks of both companies in the target markets with tour operators and education professionals.
– The primary target market is Japan, where we have been promoting Oulu region already for years as Finland’s leading educational visit destination, says Johanna Salmela from Saaga Travel.
