South Africa, the southernmost country on the African continent is a country with 59 million inhabitants. It is known for its great natural beauty and cultural diversity. South Africa is developing its education to match the future need of skilled workforce and technology entrepreneurs. The Department of Basic Education has recently launched an initiative to include coding in schools starting already from primary grades.
Code School Finland has partnered up with Contextualize who specialize in the development of 21st century skills and Young Engineers and Scientists of Africa (Yesa) whose mission is to foster STEAM innovation in Africa.
The first teacher training starts this week with 4 schools both in the Eastern and Western Cape districts. We warmly welcome Charles Duna Primary School, St. Dominic’s Priory, Forest Village Leadership Academy and Laerskool Kleinmond Primary School to join the Code School Finland teacher training program held online by Code School Finland trainers located in Finland and in Hong Kong.
